Gig Overview: We are hiring a high-energy performer to portray the “Cell Phone Mascot” for an interactive public safety campaign launching during National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. This campaign demonstrates the dangers of distracted driving through a driving simulator experience. The Cell Phone Mascot plays a critical role in the activation by intentionally distracting participants during the simulation to illustrate how easily attention can be pulled away from the road. This is a performance-based role requiring strong energy, confidence, and the ability to engage a crowd. Event Location: North Star Mall Event Address: 7400 San Pedro Ave San Antonio, TX 78216 Date & Time: April 18, 10:30AM - 9:00PM Pay: $30.00/hr Parking: Will be free on site Responsibilities Perform as the Cell Phone Mascot while wearing a full cellphone character costume. Actively attempt to distract participants while they are using the driving simulator to demonstrate the dangers of distracted driving. Bring the character to life through animated movement, playful interaction, and exaggerated behavior. Dance, move, gesture, and interact with participants in ways that simulate real-world phone distractions. Use character dialogue such as pretending to ring, demanding attention, or encouraging participants to “answer” the phone. Utilize the costume’s built-in speaker effects (ringtone, text sounds, notifications) to enhance the performance. Interact with both simulator participants and surrounding attendees to build excitement around the activation. Maintain character and high energy throughout the event shift. Work closely with the event team to ensure the performance aligns with the campaign experience. Assist with drawing attention to the activation and encouraging visitors to participate. Qualifications Energetic, animated personality with strong performance skills. Comfortable performing in costume and engaging with large groups of people. Ability to improvise and interact playfully with participants. Strong physical stamina and comfort moving around in a mascot-style costume. Experience in mascot performance, entertainment, promotions, theater, or live events is highly preferred. Reliable, punctual, and able to follow direction from the on-site team. Event Details Indoor events taking place in multiple locations. The mascot costume will be provided on site. Performers should wear comfortable black clothing underneath the costume as directed. This role requires high energy and consistent movement throughout the event.
