CASTING CALL: Mascots, Handler, Team Lead & Brand Ambassadors | On-the-Water PR Stunt at the B20 USA Summit, Washington DC
The world’s business leaders are coming to DC, and we’re greeting them from the water. BRNDSTRY is staging a PR stunt on a boat anchored right off The Wharf on the final day of the B20 USA Summit, the first time the U.S. has ever hosted it. Three mascots will steal the show from the deck, and our team on the pathway will make sure everyone on the waterfront is in on it.
Whether you can win over a whole shoreline without saying a word, keep a crew safe on deck, run the show from the pier, or turn a curious walker into the person filming the moment, there’s a spot for you here.
OPEN ROLES
On the boat:
3 Mascot Performers | $40/hr | 8 paid hours
1 Mascot Handler | $30/hr | 8 paid hours
On the Wharf pathway:
1 Team Lead | $35/hr | 8 paid hours
4 Brand Ambassadors | $30/hr | 8 paid hours
MASCOT PERFORMERS (ON THE BOAT)
You’ll bring Ducks to life in full costume on the deck of an anchored boat, waiving and holding signs for summit guests, press, and crowds along the Wharf.
Character Performance - Stay fully in character all day with big, expressive, non-verbal energy.
Shoreline Engagement - Wave, dance, and play to the crowd so you read clearly from the pier.
Photo & Media Moments - Hit your marks for photographers, video crews, and press shooting from shore and the water.
Stunt Execution - Deliver the key stunt moments on cue, exactly as planned.
What we’re looking for:
Mascot or costume character experience (sports, theme parks, brand activations)
Strong physical stamina and comfort in a full-body suit with limited visibility
Big, expressive movement that reads from a distance
Height range: [5’3” to 5’11”] to fit the costume
MASCOT HANDLER (ON THE BOAT)
You’re the eyes, voice, and safety lead for our three mascots on deck.
Deck Safety - Spot the mascots at all times and keep them clear of railings, edges, lines, and wet surfaces.
Break & Wellness Management - Run the rest rotation, keep water on hand, and help with costume fixes.
Run of Show - Stay in contact with the Team Lead on shore and the boat crew so every stunt moment lands on time.
Crew Liaison - Work with the captain and crew on boarding, movement, and safety instructions.
What we’re looking for:
Mascot handler, stage management, or event coordination experience
Calm, clear communicator who stays sharp under pressure
Strong eye for safety and timing
Boating or on-water event experience a big plus
Boat crew must also be:
Comfortable on a boat for a full day and not prone to seasickness
Able to board by dock, gangway, or ladder, and wear a life jacket when required
Ready to stay on board for the full shift, since leaving mid-shift may not be possible
Swimming ability a plus
TEAM LEAD (ON THE WHARF PATHWAY)
You’re running the show from the pier. You’ll lead the Brand Ambassador team, stay in sync with the boat, and be the point person for the client and press on site.
Team Leadership - Check in the team, assign positions, run the break schedule, and keep energy high all day.
Show Calling - Coordinate stunt timing with the Mascot Handler on the boat so every moment hits on cue.
Client & Media Point of Contact - Greet the client, handle press questions, and steer cameras to the best angles.
Problem Solving - Handle weather, crowds, and surprises calmly and quickly.
Reporting - Capture photos, crowd counts, and highlights, and send a recap at the end of the day.
What we’re looking for:
Team lead or event supervisor experience on experiential activations
Confident communicator with clients, executives, and press
Organized, decisive, and calm under pressure
Comfortable using a radio or group chat to coordinate across teams
BRAND AMBASSADORS (ON THE WHARF PATHWAY)
You’re the link between the boat and the crowd. You’ll be on the pathway making sure every passerby, summit guest, and reporter knows exactly what they’re looking at.
Crowd Engagement - Stop people on the pathway, point them to the boat, and spark the “wait, what is that?” moment.
Brand Messaging - Share a quick, confident pitch about [CLIENT] and the stunt.
Materials & Giveaways - Hand out [branded items / materials] with a friendly explanation.
Photo & Social Moments - Help guests grab photos and video with the boat in the background and encourage them to post and tag.
Media Support - Point press toward the best vantage spots and the Team Lead.
What we’re looking for:
Brand Ambassador experience, ideally at high-profile or corporate events
Polished, professional presence with senior executives, international guests, and press
Outgoing and comfortable approaching strangers
Able to stay on-message while sounding natural
