Gist is a 6,000+ member social platform that replaces awkward mixers with structured, topic-driven, one-on-one conversations. Using a "speed-meeting" format, attendees know who they're meeting, what they have in common, and how long they have — all guided by a clean, intuitive interface. No app download needed. Just scan a QR code and connect.
We've hosted dozens of successful events across the Bay Area and are now expanding to new cities. We're backed by a passionate community and a growing team of hosts who believe real connection happens face-to-face.
The Role
You'll be the on-the-ground host for Gist events in your city — the person who sets the tone, keeps things running smoothly, and makes every attendee feel welcome.
This is a structured, well-supported role. You'll receive a detailed event playbook, platform training, and ongoing support from our founding team. You won't be figuring things out alone.
What You'll Do
Host Events (Core)
Welcome attendees, help them check in
Facilitate smooth transitions between conversation rounds using the Gist platform
Be the go-to person for questions about Gist, the event topic, or how to make the most of the evening
Ensure every attendee feels seen, included, and comfortable
Coordinate Logistics
Scout and secure venues that fit the Gist vibe (we'll provide criteria and guidance)
Set up the event within the Gist platform and manage pre-event details
Handle day-of logistics so the experience runs seamlessly
Grow the Community
Share event moments on social media Stories, Reels, posts to build local buzz (with attendee consent)
Collect quick post-event feedback to help us improve
Highlight new Gist features to the community as they roll out
What We're Looking For
Reliable and organized. You show up prepared, on time, and ready. Events run on a schedule and attendees are counting on you.
Warm and approachable. You're the kind of person who makes others feel at ease — especially in new social situations.
Comfortable hosting solo. You'll have full support behind the scenes, but at the event, you're the face of Gist.
Active on social media. Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, or X — bonus if you have a niche-focused following (wellness, local culture, tech, creativity, etc.).
Clear communicator. You can explain what Gist is in 30 seconds and make anyone feel included.
Available evenings/weekends. Events are typically 1.5–2 hours, 2–5 times per month (with potential to grow).
What You Get
$30/hr for event time + prep time
Full event playbook and training — you'll know exactly what to do before your first event
A growing role. Top ambassadors get priority as we expand to new cities, with opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities
Community and purpose. You're not promoting a product — you're helping real people make real connections
Flexibility. Choose events that fit your schedule
