Role Overview
The Sales & Field Marketing Associate (SMA) represents our client’s internationally recognized beer portfolio across an assigned territory of approximately 50-75 on-premise accounts in the greater Chicagoland market.
This role is entirely in-market and field-based, requiring frequent in-person account calls and on-site execution. This is not a virtual or remote position.
The SMA is marketing-forward with a strong sales mindset, driving distribution, trial, brand visibility, and consumer pull to complement the local sales team’s market push.
The SMA will leverage key relationships, local insights, promotions, and customized planning to increase brand presence and contribute to measurable sales growth for priority brands.

Weekly-paid base salary $1,100 - $1,200 | Based on experience

Key Responsibilities
Client & Account Relationship Management
Serve as the primary client representative within assigned on‑premise accounts, building, nurturing, and growing mutually beneficial relationships
Conduct regular in‑market account calls to support new and existing distribution
Partner closely with the client’s sales team to align priorities, distribution goals, and execution standards
Brand Activation & Consumer Engagement
Schedule and execute on‑premise sampling events aligned with peak traffic periods
Deliver best in class consumer engagement, tailoring national brand strategies to local market nuances.
Increase brand presence through POS placement, visibility tools, merchandise, and menu features.
Conduct Staff Education trainings
Team & Talent Collaboration
Proactively identify, recommend, and help recruit high-caliber talent to support current and future market programs.
Tracking, Reporting & Insights
Track and report all activity within assigned accounts, including samplings, consumer reach, competitive observations, and operational insights.
Evaluate performance data to inform strategy and support the client’s market growth plan, including volume-driving and new distribution opportunities.
Work Schedule Expectations
Due to the nature of on-premise accounts and consumer traffic patterns, working hours will vary. Flexibility is essential, as sampling events and account needs are tied to high-foot traffic periods in bars and restaurants.
Key Success Measures
First 6 Months (Initial Evaluation Period):
Success will be measured through:
Number of account visits
Samplings executed
Total consumers sampled
POS and visibility placements
Successful completion of admin expectations
Features & Programs sold-in and supported with promotional items
Beyond 6 Months:
Sales volume performance within the assigned account universe
Quality of program execution
Adherence to brand standards and compliance requirements
These remain ongoing indicators of success throughout the program.
Role Structure & Employment Context
This position is employed by Havas Street, not the client. The SMA will receive a laptop, an email address, and access to systems for the duration of employment through Havas.
All employer responsibilities—including compensation, benefits, HR, performance management, and assignment of deliverables—remain solely under Havas Street.
The SMA role is distinct from the client’s Sales Specialists, Market Managers, and Regional Marketing, though it requires strong collaboration with all these stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle with a clean driving record
(Motor Vehicle Check required upon acceptance of the role)
Familiar with the Chicagoland area
Ability to meet physical requirements of the role, including lifting up to 30 lbs and standing for extended periods (6+ hours/day), with or without reasonable accommodation
Willingness to work non-traditional hours aligned with peak on-premise traffic (evenings, nights, weekends, holidays)
Intermediate technical skills; experience with:
Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel)
Creative tools (PowerPoint)
CRM systems (VIP iDig is a plus)
3+ years of experience in the adult beverage on-premise space, such as:
Supplier-side sales, marketing, or brand advocacy
Distributor experience
Key decision-maker in an account (GM, buyer, bar manager)
Agency sampling experience (preferred when paired with one of the above)
