A local catering company with a focus on sustainability is seeking a dedicated driver & logistics support who will oversee the complete process of packout, delivery, and return of materials for on-site catering events, corporate drop-offs, and daily cafe operations. This role will also have a critical focus on supporting warehouse logistics, ensuring smooth operations and inventory management.
Responsibilities:
Event Logistics: Ensure the timely transportation of food, proofers, plateware, equipment, beverages, and other materials from our Brooklyn commissary kitchen to various citywide event venues.
Equipment Management: Prepare, pack, and transport all food, beverage, and equipment materials for events, including reheating and setting up drop-off style group catering orders.
Warehouse Support: Restock, maintain, and update inventory on returned materials, as well as incoming beverages and dry goods. Help support ordering processes to minimize costs and identify cost-saving measures where possible.
Driving Support: Provide necessary driving support for projects within our larger hospitality group.
Communication: Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff, event organizers, and onsite team members.
Post-Event Duties: Handle the pickup of materials after events, ensuring all waste is returned to our kitchen for recycling and composting through our zero-waste program.
Qualifications:
Mandatory:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Clean driving record and background check
Experience operating large vehicles and navigating traffic patterns and routes through all New York City boroughs
Professional, proactive, and flexible attitude
Fluent in verbal and written English
Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift 50+ lbs, including overhead
Experience in events, warehouse, and/or kitchen operations
Preferred:
Experience reading Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) or similar event or logistic outlines
Understanding of general warehouse management and inventory systems
Working knowledge of wine, high-end spirits, and basic cocktails
Some Spanish proficiency
This is a part-time role with flexible availability; working hours vary based on need and event scheduling throughout the year. The position requires frequent lifting of heavy objects and a high level of detail-orientation, communication, and timeliness.
