ABOUT THE ROLE
Victory Marketing Agency is aMarket Manager in Vancouver — to serve as the on-the-ground leads for official mascot costume operations during FIFA World Cup 26™. This is a highly visible, operationally intensive contract role that sits at the center of one of the most watched sporting events in the world.
The Market Manager is the primary on-site authority for everything mascot-related in their city. They are responsible for the full lifecycle of each match day appearance: coordinating staff, managing costume integrity, overseeing logistics, and ensuring every appearance goes off without a hitch. They serve as the direct link between the local market and Victory’s central program team.
This role is best suited for someone with a background in event operations, experiential marketing, or entertainment production who is highly organized, calm under pressure, and comfortable owning a program independently in a fast-moving environment.
Rate is $275 CAD per day
Must be available all days: June 12th, 17th, 20th, 23rd, 25th, July 2nd
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Match Day Operations
• Serve as the on-site lead for all mascot appearances in your assigned city, managing the full team of 3 performers and 2 handlers from arrival through departure
• Manage the 2 parking passes provided per match and coordinate team transportation to and from the stadium; no additional parking costs will be reimbursed
• Conduct pre-appearance team briefing: confirm costume assignments, review the run-of-show, and address any event-specific needs
• Oversee the on-site setup and breakdown of costume operations for each 10-hour match day appearance
• Monitor performer wellbeing throughout each appearance and ensure appropriate rotation, hydration, and rest breaks
• Serve as the point of escalation for any on-site issues; communicate promptly with Victory’s central team for anything requiring rapid resolution
• Capture action photos and video footage of suitable resolution for FIFA social media use; ensure all content is rights-cleared
Costume Management
• Inspect each costume thoroughly before and after every appearance; document any damage, wear, or issues identified
• Ensure all costume pieces are fully removed from bags and aired out after each use without exception
• Manage the spare parts kit provided by FIFA; apply parts as needed while original components are being repaired or cleaned
• Coordinate costume cleaning after every two appearances (or more frequently based on conditions, weather, or appearance type); follow FIFA’s cleaning and care instructions
• Manage the safe storage of two sets of three costumes in your city; during the tournament, costumes will likely be stored at the stadium
• Oversee the proper packing of costumes into chester cases (24"x24"x30", approximately 55 lbs each) and blue duffel bags for transport
• Ensure costumes remain in performance-ready condition throughout the contract term; flag any damage requiring professional repair immediately
Logistics & Administration
• Coordinate costume pick-up, delivery, and safe return for every match day and any external events requiring costume transport
• Maintain all necessary logistics documentation for costume movement within your market
• Track all appearances, correspondence, and costume-related activity using Victory’s Armada workforce management platform and FIFA’s Monday.com booking system
• Confirm staff schedules, shifts, and assignments in Armada at least one week in advance of each match day
• Maintain a backup pool of qualified performers and handlers in your market in the event of last-minute cancellations or no-shows
• Support the onboarding of performers and handlers ahead of pre-tournament training sessions
Communication & Reporting
• Serve as the primary on-the-ground contact for Victory’s central program team (Senior Staffing Coordinator); maintain consistent, proactive communication throughout the program
• Provide timely post-appearance updates to the central team including photos, video, any costume issues, and staff notes
• Participate in Victory’s bi-weekly program calls with FIFA as needed
• Contribute data and observations to the post-program debrief report, including appearance summaries, key learnings, and any operational recommendations
• Escalate any mascot, costume, or event-related issues immediately; do not allow problems to sit unresolved
Pre-Tournament Preparation
• Participate in and help facilitate pre-tournament training sessions: 3 teams x 5 staff (3 performers + 2 handlers), 4 hours per session, in your assigned city
• Ensure all performers and handlers in your market are trained, credentialed, and ready to perform before the first match day
• Confirm local logistics are in place ahead of go-live: transportation, storage, cleaning vendors, and costume delivery
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• 3+ years of experience in event operations, experiential marketing, live entertainment, sports production, or a closely related field
• Demonstrated ability to manage on-site staff and coordinate logistics in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to track multiple moving pieces simultaneously
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English required
• Comfortable using digital platforms for scheduling, communication, and reporting (experience with workforce management or event management software a plus)
• Availability for all match days in your assigned city for the full contract term (June – August 2026)
• Ability to work long days on site (10-hour match days) including evenings and weekends
• Physical ability to assist with moving costume cases (approximately 55 lbs); comfortable working in stadium and outdoor event environments
Preferred
• Prior experience working on FIFA, MLS, or large-scale international sporting events
• Experience managing mascot, character, or costume performers
• Familiarity with Armada, Monday.com, or similar workforce/project management platforms
• Existing network of performers, handlers, or event staff in the Toronto or Vancouver markets
• Experience working with brand mascots or costumed characters in a live event context
• Bilingual candidates (English/French for Toronto; English/French or English/Mandarin for Vancouver) are an asset
